Prompt: June 24th, 2020

Write a  story in the military genre. It’s about a politician and should include a letter. Also use the sentence ‘I will end you for this.’

Bonus prompt: The story involves a fight.

The soldier is sitting in the interrogation room, fingering the letter on the chain around her neck, a small V. Her eyes are far away, remembering the girl who’d given her the necklace, when footsteps stop outside the door and the handle twitches. When the door opens, her commanding officer stand there, with a general in full regalia and a sleek woman in a jumpsuit and blood red heels. The soldier sucks in a breath.

“Valencia?” She’s barely breathing, taking in the love of her adolescence, grown into an adult, into something harsh.

“Vienna. How are you?”

“What are you doing here?”

“There was a murder in my district. When the general called and said you might know something, I thought I owed it to my people to hear it myself.” Valencia’s voice is cold, distant even.

“You’re a politician now.” The statement is coated in loathing, Vienna’s eyes narrowing as she says it.

“Don’t look at me like that soldier, our crimes are the same.”

“I will end you for this, Val. For this accusation, because you know he didn’t do it.” Vienna’s voice is unhinged, closer to a snarl than anything else.

One perfectly manicured brow arches, a smirk spreading across Valencia’s face. “Do I really know that?”
