Istanbul

There is no end
To the ways
That I miss you

I miss your sounds
The way your residents drive
Horns blaring and rules thrown out

I miss the cats that lurk across campus
And the dogs
Dogs wandering aimless on every street corner

Food here cannot compare
To the vendors in flea markets and bazaars
Selling gözleme, warm and cheesy

This place does not hold
The young soul
The one that guided me through you

More than anything
I miss the way that I feel there
Independent, free

I learned more
With you
Than I have anywhere else

I learned about me
About life
About where I want to go

You are my guide, too
And I long, with every fiber of my being
To return to you
