This poem is about a feeling
I’m not sure that you’re supposed to start this way
But here we are
This poem is about the way the sun dances
Dances with each vibrant curl
Catching red and gold and copper as it goes
This poem is about the dapples across your body
Each freckle never far from her neighbor
Painting you like a canvas
This poem is about the ever changing color of your eyes
Brown like sweet milk chocolate or green like the leaves of our million plants
Or both, ensnaring me in so many of my favorite things
This poem is about your mom’s watch theory
The way my watch and yours remind me
That we are gay for one another
This poem is about the insufferable mixing of patterns
The way you jump into every outfit, every moment of your life
With shades of reckless abandon
This poem is about your fingers
The way they interlace with mine
I wish I could keep them there forever
This poem is about your mind
The way you enchant me with both
Your genius and silliness
This poem is about you
About all of you, each piece and moment
All of which I adore
